Team Bio / History

The U18 Eagles play in the Portsmouth Youth Football League. They are managed by Dave Farlow and assisted by coach Charlie Hancock.

The Eagles team includes a very talented group of players with a diverse mix of personalities from many different schools. The majority of the team have been with us since U6 where we have seen them flourish, grow and improve through the years. Those players who have joined us through this time have enriched the team even further.

We have a very strong experienced coaching team up to Level 2 certification.

Our aim is to enrich them with an environment to enable them express themselves both on and off the pitch, provide them with confidence and encourage them to fulfil all the potential they may not realise they have. This is aligned to the FA approved learning structure of developing in all 4 corners: Physical, Physiological, Social and Technical.

Our coaching ethos stays the same and is quite straight forward we want the players to get the most out of their capability, work hard for each other, develop as footballers and as a result of that very much enjoy their football. We believe in working hard for each other and we are only as good as the sum of the parts.

We try to instil our motto of:

“Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.”

We also believe in a strong openness with parents and guardians where we value all input and listen to all points of view. We welcome all the encouragement this brings both as coaches and for the players.
