Welcome to Whiteley Wanderers FC

Our goal is simple: to create an inclusive community football club where everyone is welcome, teamwork shines, and together, we grow stronger on and off the field.

Welcome to Whiteley Wanderers Football Club, a beacon of community spirit and inclusivity. Founded in 1998 by Katie and Stuart Gray, we began as a single youth team fueled by passion and a love for the game. Our foundation rests on the principles of teamwork, dedication, and the belief that football is more than just a sport—it’s a journey we embark on together.

Our Journey
Our journey through the years is a story of leadership, growth, and recognition. After Katie and Stuart, a series of dedicated Chairmen—Clint Shephard, Phil Moores, Ian Binks, Kevin Fisher, Bob Galpin, and now Steve Davies—have each added a new chapter to our club’s history.

Under their guidance, we’ve evolved from that single team to a proud community, achieving Community Charter status in 2011 and being honored as the Charter Standard Community Club of the Year by Hampshire FA in the 2014-2015 season.

Celebrating our 20th anniversary in 2018, we’ve grown in size and spirit, now boasting 25 youth teams, including 6 girls’ teams, 3 adult men’s teams, and more than 80 volunteer managers, coaches, helpers, and committee members.

Our Future
Looking forward, Whiteley Wanderers Youth Football Club is committed to building upon our rich legacy with an eye towards innovation, inclusivity, and community engagement.

Our aim is to continue expanding our offerings, welcoming more members into our family, and fostering an environment where every player, regardless of age or skill level, can thrive. As we move into the future, our goal remains steadfast: to be more than a football club, but a home where values are lived, talents are nurtured, and lifelong friendships are formed.

Our History

Our club’s history is a source of immense pride, reflecting the dedication and passion of everyone involved in its journey.

Our Start by Katie & Stuart Gray

1998

Supported by Clint Shepard, Martin Reed, Phil Moores, Kev Boniface, John Bunyan, Mike Eyles.

Initial Team Formation

1999

Started with 2 teams, including an U8s team.

Expansion

2002

Grew to 5 teams under the guidance of John Bunyan, Andy Rose and Phil Carlin.

Leadership Change

2005

Clint Shepherd became chairman following the foundations laid by Stuart and Katie Gray

Phil Moores' Chairmanship

2006

Gained chartered standard status, enhancing club’s reputation.

Community Engagement

2006 - 2008

Hosted summer tournaments for area clubs at HMS Collingwood and Eastney Barracks.

Ian Binks' Leadership

2007

Continued expansion and innovation.

Kevin Fisher initiated men’s team, expanding club’s scope.
